Book of Kells is the most remarkable artifact in Celtic art which produced around 800 AD. It contains lavish, colorful lettering, decorations, ornamental borders, illuminations and illustrations. Vulgate edition which was based on latin texts were decorated by copy of four gospels. Gospels were consisted by prefaces, summaries of gospel narratives  etc. The scripts were embellished by detailing of the keywords, phrases and also decorated initials and interlinear drawings.

The images of Jesus Christ, St. Mathew, the Virgin and the Child, St. John etc were the main themes, additionally the book contains complex scenes.

Origin of the book was dependent on a single volume however  it reproduces in 4 volumes in 1953 for conservation reasons. They were presenting as one opened at a major decorated page and and the toher opened at a text opening.
